First of all, let me say this dress is MUCH cuter than the pictures do it justice. The day we shot this outfit I was overheated, hungry, and super cranky. So the last thing I felt like doing was modeling my clothes and it unfortunately came across in the pictures. Lesson learned. I’m going to try to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
I found this dress on sale at LOFT, and after reading only positive reviews, I decided to go for it. It’s a great summer dress, and this burgundy color is great for fall right now! So I plan on pairing it with a long burgundy sweater as it starts to get chilly. Alternatively, I’d also wear moccasins with this outfit, but couldn’t find them before the shoot. Probably also part of why I was so crabby!
I’m very short, and can a lot of times get away with shorter dresses. But this one was too short for comfort, so I had my mom help me. She added on some extra length to the bottom with the burgundy fabric you see in the pictures. I actually really loved the way it turned out! For size reference, I bounce between a medium and large at LOFT depending on the item, but chose a medium in this dress and it was just right. Also, it’s currently under $30, no discount code needed!
Did anyone else’s mom ever help them with makeshift modest dresses growing up… that continued into adulthood?! Ha! Thanks mom!
