As I write this, Logan is sitting on the sofa, tablet in hand, sick as a dog. But last week, Logan started first grade! Last year, at the very end of his first week, he came home sniffling on a Friday afternoon and by Saturday had a full blown cold: fever, yellow snotty nose, the whole shebang. This year, I set my mind to pumping him full of immune system boosters, putting him to bed at 8, and slathering him up with Doterra OnGuard before he left the house. I think I set my hopes a little too high, and was devastated when the EXACT same thing happened this year. Four days into the school year, on Friday, he came home sniffling. Today is Monday and it’s his first absence of the school year. School germs are so. dang. annoying. ughhhhh.

But other than that the first week went off pretty well! As you can tell, he’s super into Lego Batman right now. You may recognize the backpack from last year, but we sprung for a brand new lunch box for this brand new first grader! (Bonus, it came with the DVD too!)

He picked out his lunchbox, his first day outfit, and his shoes all by himself. I actually don’t love these shoes quite as much as him, ha, but he was ardent in his admiration for these shoes when I showed him the sneakers on J.Crew’s website. He said, “Those are the coolest shoes I’ve ever seen! They’re all the colors so I don’t have to chose just one color!” I guess a lot of kids must have agreed with him because they keep bouncing between in and out of stock.

I hope your little ones had a great first week of school, thinking of all you mamas!
